Akash Gupta
. Let's delve into the discussion.
How does Zypp Electric integrate IoT to electrify last-mile deliveries?
We have full-stack SaaS offerings at Zypp Electric. It monitors India’s largest AI/ML and IoT-enabled EV fleet. It helps us make informed decisions that help maximize vehicle uptime and usage across various hubs and locations. Our SaaS product includes a client, fleet management, and analytics dashboard integrated with pilot and fleet apps. It allows real-time fleet monitoring and helps asses rides to facilitate driver safety and efficiency.
One of our standout features is a motor lock. It not only enhances security but also provides better visibility into our deployed fleets. Our technology-driven offerings also include a battery management system. Monitoring and optimizing battery health assures our EVs’ longevity and reliability. Our tech-enabled functionalities help collect and analyze big data, which further improves services, ensures timely repairs, and makes inventory management efficient.
Within the logistics domain, the role of commercial vehicles is significant. How does Zypp Electric plan to carve out a distinctive presence in this segment?
We’ve been witnessing a rise in fuel prices for years now, especially petrol. At the same time, the high costs associated with vehicles make it challenging for delivery drivers to realize their full earning potential. This is where Zypp Electric steps in.
We have been electrifying delivery fleets. We've partnered with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to source some of the best EVs available. Our infrastructure includes an extensive network of battery-swapping stations and on-road assistance for delivery partners, and we've integrated easy in-app features to streamline the delivery process and facilitate cross-utilization of resources. This approach helps delivery drivers maximize their earnings while our clients benefit from reduced delivery costs and more efficient deliveries.
Overall, we cater to the needs of our clients and drivers. We're positively impacting India's EV ecosystem with 20,000 EVs actively on the road, enhancing last-mile logistics capabilities for a wide range of businesses.
What is Zypp Electric’s perspective on any noteworthy initiatives aimed at aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
We started Zypp Electric to reduce carbon emissions, especially in the last-mile delivery and mobility sectors, through electrification. It perfectly aligns with the Indian government's vision of achieving nationwide electrification by 2030 for a cleaner and sustainable future per the 13th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Our fleet is 100% electrified.
Our business model also aligns with the 7th SDG that ensures affordable and clean energy for everyone. We have created a rental model of electric scooters for gig workers to encourage the adoption of EVs. Primarily, it negates the issue of financing required for buying an EV. With this, we intend to make a complete shift to EVs for last-mile logistics a reality. At the same time, easily accessible two-wheelers create job opportunities for individuals. Equipping gig workers with better livelihood opportunities aligns with 1st SDG that promotes income generation and economic empowerment. We’ve collaborated with governance bodies to execute our operations optimally, enabling us to progress toward sustainability goals.
What about Zypp's rental services and explain the advantages that gig workers can enjoy by utilizing Zypp's services?
Along with resolving the last-mile emissions, we are also working to boost EV adoption in the country by making it affordable. We offer accessible rental options for our delivery partners. It helps gig workers own two-wheelers at minimal costs. Not just that, it also minimizes their monthly expenses on fuel and vehicle maintenance.
When it comes to EVs, charging is one of the core concerns. To make it easier for drivers, we provide hassle-free charging and swapping of EVs through our vast network of charging stations and swaps. Most importantly, the initial swaps on our EVs are free. Subsequent charges are nominal. This way, gig workers can go the extra mile for their deliveries, which helps them earn more through our partners like Amazon, Zomato, Uber, Rapido, etc.
How does the company plan to expand or ongoing projects that Zypp Electric is currently involved in?
“We're already present in more than six cities, and we're ramping things up in Bengaluru with plans to add more mother hubs. Also, we initiated our operations in Mumbai. Right now, our primary focus is on boosting our electric vehicle fleet in Bengaluru to 10,000 units. We also aim to roll out 500,000
e-scooters
within the next three and a half years, all to build a business worth over INR 10,000 crores”, said Akash Gupta, Co-founder & CEO of Zypp Electric.
While we are proud to have the largest 2-wheeler fleet, we are actively working on expanding our 3-wheeler segment. It includes recruitment, deploying new fleet units, and establishing key business partnerships. We aim to grow our business while supporting our delivery partners. We understand the hard work they put in to earn a livelihood, and we intend to offer affordable and best-in-market insurance plans to them.

Also, we understand that we can’t transform the whole EV landscape ourselves, so we came up with the EVolve Innovation Challenge in 2021. The idea was to discover, nurture, and financially support those early-stage startups that could use a helping hand by teaming up with us. This fits right in with India's mission to go electric by 2030. Just recently, we wrapped up the second season of the challenge, and it was a big success. We gave away INR 10 lakh in cash prizes and placed orders worth INR 5 crore with three fantastic EV-based startups. We're gearing up for the third season next year.
