Nithin Kamath

,

Co-Founder

and CEO of the discount broking platform

Zerodha

, recently revealed that he suffered a mild

stroke

six weeks ago. In a candid post, Kamath attributed the stroke to a combination of factors, including the passing away of his father, poor sleep, exhaustion, dehydration, and intense workouts.

Kamath described his journey from experiencing significant facial drooping and struggling with reading and writing to gradually recovering.

He now expects a full recovery within 3 to 6 months. The doctor advised him to recognize when to ease off and take care of himself, even for someone who maintains a fit lifestyle.
Despite the setback, Kamath remains resilient. He was also nominated as a non-official member of the government’s reconstituted National Start-up Advisory Council (NASC) in December 2023. The NASC aims to foster innovation and support startups in India.

In response to Kamath’s disclosure, Ashneer Grover, former MD of BharatPe, empathized, “Dude - take care. Most likely you are deeply affected because of the passing away of your dad.” Deepak Shenoy, Founder and CEO of Capitalmind, encouraged Kamath to take it easy during this challenging time.
