NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Ms. Rachel, a YouTube and TikTok creator popular with parents and young children, is calling for Mayor Eric Adams to stop cutting funding for early childhood education.

Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Accurso, took to her massive platforms on Instagram and TikTok to advocate for families with young kids.

"Our mayor cut $400 million from early childhood education programs and is proposing more cuts," she said. "What doesn't make sense, is for every dollar invested in early childhood education you get $4 to $16 back."

New Yorkers United for Child Care, an organization comprised of parents and future parents, claims that Adams has cut $400 million from early childcare programs since taking office in 2022. Accurso urged her viewers to sign the organization's petition to "stop the cuts to pre-K and 3-K."

"Also, all children having access to the option of high-quality early childhood education is going to help the children for their whole lives," Accurso continued in the video.

City council members and members from New Yorkers United for Child Care will be rallying outside of City Hall on Thursday to demand Mayor Adams refund the budget cuts.
