‘Yoga sey hoga’: Bittu banks on personal touch

2 weeks ago 3

Ludhiana: With only a month left for the elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu has now finally touched the ground and after convincing the workers, he is meeting people.
Starting from early morning with walkers in city parks, Bittu attends one-to-one chai pe charcha and holds a couple of rallies in

urban constituencies

.

Party insiders claim that their target is to get “at least 3 lakh votes from urban constituencies” even as they are hoping to get “good vote share” in

rural areas

as well due to “multiple factors”.
Bittu can be seen meeting people door-to-door along with BJP senior leaders.

In constituencies like North, East, South and Central, maximum meetings are taking place these days, because the leaders are trying to increase their

vote share

from these constituencies.
One of the leaders requesting anonymity said, “From the North constituency, we are able to get votes between 40,000 to 50,000 and from the East constituency also, the vote share will increase from 18,000, which we got in the 2022 assembly elections.”

In Central and South constituencies, they have “great scope” to channelise their voters except for Atam Nagar as the party is a little bit weak here but they are “trying to gain strength”.
He further shared that as far as rural constituencies are concerned from Dakha and Jagraon, Bittu will get votes as he has “personal relations” in these areas with many relatives there.
He said moreover Bittu is a

Sikh face

and this will definitely go in his favour.
“There are 12 per cent Jatt Sikh voters in rural constituencies but SC, BC and Hindu population is also there, so we are not bothered much,” he added. However, the BJP district president Rajnish Dhiman said, “The campaigning is going well and we are hopeful to get public support. Our candidate will win the seat as competition is between the Congress and the BJP while the other two are not in the race.”
