Yashasvi Jaiswal climbs into top-20 in Test rankings

NEW DELHI: Indian opener

Yashasvi Jaiswal

has made a significant jump in the

ICC Test Rankings

, moving up 14 spots to 15th position in the

batting charts

.
This rise comes after his impressive back-to-back

double centuries

in the ongoing series against England. Jaiswal, a 22-year-old left-hander, became only the eighth cricketer and the third Indian to achieve this feat, joining the likes of Vinod Kambli and

Virat Kohli

.

In the second Test at Visakhapatnam, Jaiswal scored a brilliant 209 in India's first innings. He followed it up with an unbeaten knock of 214 in the second innings at Rajkot, contributing to India's commanding 434-run victory over England, which also gave them a 2-1 lead in the series.

Ravindra Jadeja

, who was named the player-of-the-match in Rajkot, has also made progress in the batting rankings. His century in the first innings has helped him climb from 41st to 34th position.
Jadeja's all-round performance, including a seven-wicket match haul, has propelled him to sixth place in the bowling rankings.
Meanwhile, veteran off-spinner

Ravichandran Ashwin

, who achieved the milestone of 500 Test wickets in Rajkot, has moved up to the second position in the rankings, just behind pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

Jadeja and Ashwin continue to dominate the Test all-rounders rankings, holding on to the top two spots. Jadeja has reached a career-best rating of 469 points, consolidating his position among the all-rounders.
India captain Rohit Sharma has also made a slight improvement in the batting list, moving up one spot to 12th after his score of 131 in the first innings at Rajkot.

Another young talent, Shubman Gill, has shown promise, progressing three places to 35th position after his knock of 91 in the second innings.
Debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel have also made their entry into the rankings, securing the 75th and 100th positions respectively.
Although Virat Kohli is not playing in the series due to personal reasons, he remains the only Indian in the top 10 batters' chart, holding on to the seventh spot.
In the England camp, opener Ben Duckett's impressive innings of 153 in the first innings has helped him climb 12 places to 13th in the rankings.
New Zealand's Kane Williamson continues to dominate the batting rankings, strengthening his position at the top after scoring yet another century against South Africa. He has now achieved the remarkable feat of scoring seven centuries in seven Tests, a feat previously achieved only by Aravinda de Silva, Mohammad Yousuf, and Clyde Walcott.
Steve Smith and Daryl Mitchell follow Williamson in the rankings.
