NEW YORK (PIX11) – Stew Leonard's is facing a wrongful death lawsuit from the family of a New York City dancer who died after an allergic reaction to mislabeled cookies.

The family of 25-year-old Orla Baxendale claimed she died back in January after eating cookies she bought at the grocery chain, which were not marked as containing peanuts.

The lawsuit cited gross negligence. Stew Leonard's said it could not comment on pending litigation.

The store previously pointed to the Long Island company that supplied the cookies, Cookies United. Cookies United said it disclosed the addition of peanuts in the cookies, and claimed that Stew Leonard's failed to update its labels.
