We are all in readiness for the contest to begin at Chinnaswamy! The two Umpires walk out to the middle as one of the officials hands them the new ball. Bangalore players are seen in a last-minute huddle with Smriti Mandhana offering some words of wisdom, near the ropes.
In case you were wondering how Gujarat are allowed to field five overseas players, it is because of a rule, currently only in the Women's T20 League, that states if a team has a player from any of the Associate nations, she can feature in the playing XI as the fifth overseas player. In Gujarat's case, Kathryn Bryce is a Scottish all-rounder, and having her in the playing XI has allowed them to field five overseas players.
The skipper of Gujarat, Beth Mooney says that they got to embrace the crowd and it does not happen often that you get to play in front of such crowds. States that they have had a few meetings but it is still not panic stations just yet. Mentions that it is important to make sure that the momentum is happening at the right time in such competitions. Adds that it is about getting the processes right before worrying about the results. Feels that there are a lot of world-class players in this tournament and a few are likely to miss out. Reckons that it is tough to match the balance but they are glad that they have Kathryn Bryce which is allowing them to play 5 overseas players. Ends by informing that they are going with the same team as the last game.
The captain of Bangalore, Smriti Mandhana says that they will bowl first. She says watching the other teams play a few games, it feels like having the target is a bit easier. Adds that the last game was brilliant, and close wins are always special. Says they need to keep it simple and follow the basics and adds they want to play the best brand of cricket. Adds the first game was important to start on the winning momentum, but they need to forget what has happened previously and focus on the present. Informs that they are playing with an unchanged team.

We let ourselves down in the first ten overs. Credit has to go to TK (Tanuja Kanwar) and (Katherine) Bryce to get us to a defendable total. We were 20 runs short in the end to make it a challenging chase. Lot to take away from the first innings
