PANCHKULA: The pace of development will increase,

Panchkula MLA

Gian Chand Gupta said on Tuesday, while convening a

coordination meeting

with

Haryana Urban Development Authority

, (Huda), MC,

Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority

, PWD, and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) officials.
During the meeting, it was finalised that Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority will handle the external sectors while Huda and MC will complete the internal work.

Gupta said, “At present, the same service is being provided by different departments in different sectors and this is creating confusion among the public. Such complication must not be there.”
Officials present in the meeting said the detailed development plan of the city and surrounding areas has been submitted to the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority. The MC has handed over all 38 roads to the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority for recarpeting, they added.

At present, water supply and sewerage works are the responsibility of Huda, but now MC and Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority will look after the work accordingly. The system of drainage of rain water will also be the responsibility of Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority.
The work of beautification of major natural drains passing through the city has also been given to Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority. Officials said by February 15, tenders will be issued for beautification of drains from MDC to Sector 17 and sectors 2 and 4. HSIIDC will expand the industrial area and also develop a park there. Officials said a tender worth Rs 23.5 crore had been issued on January 3 for the 66KV power sub-station as well.

In the meeting, reconstruction of the broken bridge in Khetpurali, erosion of road near Beed Ghaggar, and roads being built by the marketing board were also discussed. Gupta reviewed the progress report of cleanliness in MDC sectors, C&D waste collection, and museum of archaeology being built in Sector 5 besides state library building, mother and child hospital and Sanskrit college.
MLA Gupta took strict cognisance of stoppage of work on the service lane being built along the RUB at Kalka-Pinjore railway gate. Officials said it took time to get permission to cut trees. Gupta also reached Pinjore and inspected the site.
