Woman throws hot liquid at NJ officer; cop treated for burns

NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) – A Newark police officer was hospitalized after a woman threw hot liquid at the cop Friday, according to the Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.

Officers responded to an apartment at Hawkins Street near Horatio Street to assist DCP&P in entering the residence around 3:30 p.m., according to Fragé.

A female suspect threw a hot liquid at one of the officers, Fragé said. The liquid is suspected to be bleach, according to authorities.

The officer was transported to a hospital where they were treated for second-degree burns, according to Fragé.

The woman was taken into custody. The incident is currently under investigation.
