Woman staffer jumps off 2nd floor of mall, dies; daughter alleges harassment

A 50-year-old woman housekeeping employee at a Hyderabad mall died after jumping off the building's second floor, police officials said.

The incident happened at the Chennai Silks shopping mall located in the Kukat Pally suburb of Hyderabad, where Ramanamma, the deceased woman worked.

Her daughter, Jashnavi, however, alleged that her mother was harassed by other housekeeping workers, which is why she took the extreme step.

She told the police that her mother had been harassed by the other employees the previous day also, and her mother had tried to kill herself.

The Kukat Pally police have initiated an investigation, registering a case on the matter.

The woman’s body has been taken to the hospital for postmortem.
