Woman shot and killed, suspect on the loose: Police

SPRING VALLEY, NY (PIX11) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Rockland County after a woman was shot at her home early Wednesday morning.

Family and loved ones were seen grieving outside of the home on Inwood Drive after learning the woman was gunned down in her home earlier that morning.

Police tape stretched across the home as police investigated a shooting they said happened just before 9 a.m. The early morning chaos sent shockwaves through what neighbors said was normally a quiet area.

“I used to live here like for almost three years already,” said former neighbor Junior Soto. “I never saw nothing like that happen here.”

A crime scene unit truck sat outside the home as detectives combed through the area. Canine units were deployed while investigators searched for clues surrounding the gunfire.

Ramapo Police have not confirmed if they are searching for a suspect, but they tell PIX11 News there is no threat to the public. With few details available surrounding the incident, police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
