UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- A woman was robbed in broad daylight by a man and a woman on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Sunday, police said.
The 24-year-old victim was walking near Madison Avenue and East 75th Street when the two unitentified robbers approached her around 3 p.m., according to the NYPD. The robbers put the victim in a headlock and pulled her hair, forcing her to the ground, police said.
The assailants then took the victim's cellphone, police said. The robbers attempted to remove more property from the victim, but she fled to an apartment complex where a doorman was able to force the robbers away, authorities said.
Even though the doorman could not stop the thieves from taking off with the victim's cellphone, he did save her from getting hurt, police said.
