LOWER MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A 38-year-old woman was found unconscious and unresponsive Thursday morning inside the Soho 54 Hotel on Watts Street in Lower Manhattan. EMS pronounced her deceased at the scene.

Police responded to a 911 call at 10:30 a.m. According to police sources, a housekeeping employee found the woman, who had cuts to her face and a bloody iron in close proximity to her body.

“We did not hear anything from the hours of, like, 1 a.m. until the staff was knocking on the door,” said Victoria Marinucci, who was staying in the room next door to the victim on the 11th floor.

Police have not yet released the woman’s identity. The Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause of death. Police have not made any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
