Woman dies after son pushes her down Manhattan park embankment: sources

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11) -- A woman is dead after being pushed down a grass embankment inside of a Washington Heights park on Sunday by her son, according to sources.

Witnesses inside the park told police a man pushed Vianel Garcia, 44, down the embankment near West 165th Street and Riverside Drive around 4 p.m., according to officials.

Garcia was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.

Officials said a 22-year-old man was taken into custody by police. Sources told PIX11 News the man is Garcia's son.
