Woman critically injured after being punched, robbed outside Queens church: NYPD

BRIARWOOD, Queens (PIX11) – A 68-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was attacked and robbed outside a Queens church on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

It happened around 8:20 a.m. in front of St. Demetrios' Greek Orthodox Church, police said. A man allegedly punched the woman, causing her to fall down a flight of stairs, according to authorities.

The suspect then took her purse that had $300, a cellphone, a credit card and car keys inside, police said. The woman was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital, according to authorities.

Police describe the suspect as being between 18 to 25 years old and around 5'8". He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt underneath a black jacket, black pants, a black face mask and black Jordan's with a red trim.
