GRAVESEND, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- A woman has been charged after allegedly fatally striking a mother and her two daughters in a Gravesend crosswalk, police said.
Miriam Yarimi is accused of crashing into a car and then into a family crossing the road near Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road Saturday around 1:04 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Yarimi has been charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and driving over the speed limit, the NYPD told PIX11 News on Sunday. It was not immediately clear how fast Yarimi was driving at the time of the crash.
The 35-year-old mother and her two daughters, ages 8 and 6, were killed in the crash, according to the NYPD. A 4-year-old boy remains in critical condition Sunday, police said.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch identified Yarimi as the suspected driver on Saturday and accused the 32-year-old of driving with a suspended license.
"This was a horrific tragedy caused by someone who shouldn't have been on the road,” Tisch said.
Police say Yarimi's car overturned during the crash, and she was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
