NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain
KL Rahul
commended the blistering pace of
Mayank Yadav
following their team's back-to-back victories in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. After a scintillating performance that saw Lucknow Super Giants secure a 28-run victory against
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
(RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday, Rahul showered praise on Mayank Yadav, whose fiery pace troubled the opposition batsmen.
Reflecting on Yadav's exceptional display, Rahul humorously remarked that he preferred witnessing the 21-year-old's bowling prowess from the safety of 20 yards behind the stumps rather than facing him with a bat in hand.
"Yeah one ball hit me really hard but so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he's been bowling in the last couple of games. He's quietly patiently waited for two seasons in the dugout, and missed out last year because of injury, unfortunately. But he's been in Bombay with the physios working really hard. He understands that bowling 155 is not easy and in a young age, he's had a few injuries. He's really professional in looking after his body, it's really good to see and has a great temperament. Enjoying seeing bowl from probably 20 yards behind the stumps, that's where I'd like to be when he's bowling," said the LSG skipper.
Yadav's searing pace, clocking at 156.7 kph, dismantled RCB's batting lineup, claiming crucial wickets including those of Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green.
Mayank Yadav's remarkable performance propelled him into the leaderboard of the top five wicket-takers in IPL this season. In two consecutive matches, Yadav has been instrumental in turning the tide in favour of LSG, with his electrifying pace proving to be a game-changer.
Mayank Yadav's stellar performance earned him accolades as he became the sixth bowler in IPL history to clinch three-wicket hauls in consecutive matches. Starting his IPL journey with back-to-back Player of the Match awards, Yadav has emerged as a potent force in LSG's bowling arsenal.
