NEW DELHI: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) set a new record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by amassing a formidable total of 287-3 against

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

(RCB), the highest-ever in the tournament's history.
Travis Head

's explosive century, scored off just 41 balls, and

Heinrich Klaasen

's aggressive 67 contributed significantly to SRH's imposing total. This milestone surpassed SRH's previous record of 277 runs, achieved against Mumbai Indians at their home ground on March 27 to go past the 263-5 by RCB in 2013.

The match also witnessed the second-highest total in a T20 match overall, with the highest-ever recorded by Nepal against Mongolia in last year's Asian Games.

With a combined total of 549 runs, the encounter between SRH and RCB produced the highest aggregate score in a T20 game.

In response to Hyderabad's imposing total, RCB displayed a valiant effort in their chase, with

Virat Kohli

and skipper Faf du Plessis providing a blazing start.

Dinesh Karthik

's blistering 83 off 35 balls further bolstered Bengaluru's pursuit, but they ultimately fell short, finishing on 262-7.
Skipper

Pat Cummins

and spinner Mayank Markande played pivotal roles in breaking the backbone of RCB's chase, claiming five wickets between them and securing a 25-run victory for SRH in a record-breaking encounter.
"Against Mumbai (Indians) a few weeks ago I thought it won't happen again, but it has happened again," Cummins said after his team's third straight victory and fourth of the season.
"Wish I was a batter. Wonderful game of cricket. Amazing scenes. Good fun. You try your best. If you bowl an over of 7 or 8, you can have an impact on the game.
I have given up trying to read the wicket. Chinnaswamy looked dry. Really happy. Four wins now. The batters have gone about it with a smile on their faces," Cummins added.
