PARAMUS, NJ (PIX 11) — Bergen County’s beloved Winter Wonderland is bringing holiday magic to Paramus — transforming a local park into a winter escape for families and friends.

The annual event officially kicked off at Van Saun County Park on Friday.

Breanne Felice returned for what has become a holiday tradition for her family.

“We’ve been coming for the past what — five, six years? And there’s no place like it. It’s local. How can you beat it,” she said.

County Executive Jim Tedesco — the mastermind behind the annual event — has deemed it North Jersey’s premier destination for winter family fun.

“I had this vision of making the parks be more accessible year-round and so we started with Winter Wonderland,” said Tedesco.

Now in its ninth year, the holiday extravaganza continues to attract visitors with its dazzling lights and festive atmosphere.

“You could come here, spend a day for a whole lot less than traveling far away, and enjoy the beauty and the offerings that are here,” Tedesco said.

Of course, no holiday celebration would be complete without Santa and Mrs. Claus, where families posed for festive photos. Attendees also got to experience the thrill of ice bumper cars, a carousel, a beer and wine garden, and ice skating.

The Bergen County Winter Wonderland runs until January 12th.
