NEW DELHI:

New Zealand

's cricket team captain,

Kane Williamson

, will be sidelined for the final three matches in the

Twenty20 series

against

Pakistan

after sustaining a minor

hamstring strain

during the second T20I clash in Hamilton on Sunday. Despite the setback, the Black Caps managed to clinch victory by 21 runs, securing a 2-0 lead in the series.
In a statement released on Tuesday, New Zealand Cricket confirmed the unfortunate news and revealed that the injury occurred while Williamson was batting.

The statement reads, "A timeline for Williamson's rehabilitation and return to cricket is still being established with a goal of being ready for selection in the test series against South Africa."

This injury adds to a series of setbacks that Williamson has faced in recent years, and his absence from the T20 series against Pakistan is a notable loss for the team. The focus now shifts to ensuring his recovery and readiness for the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
New Zealand are scheduled to face an inexperienced South African team in two tests to be held at Mount Maunganui and Hamilton in February. Despite the challenges posed by Williamson's absence, the team remains determined to maintain its competitive edge in the forthcoming matches.
