Panaji: Congress on Thursday said it would take to the streets if chief minister Pramod Sawant did not appoint a judicial commission headed by a high court judge to probe allegations — including links to BJP — pertaining to those involved in demanding cash for jobs. Claiming that senior politicians from the BJP camp are involved in the scam, state Congress president Amit Patkar gave govt until Monday to agree to the demand.
The party has also expressed concern about the racket involving

fake educational certificates

and has sought a high-level committee to verify documents submitted by govt employees, particularly those from educational institutions managed by BJP functionaries.
“Congress will go door to door and ward to ward to take this agitation to the people. This is a question that every Goan is asking; they are asking for jobs, and this govt has taken the state to the first place in unemployment,” said Patkar.
Patkar and opposition leader Yuri Alemao said the cops would find it difficult to conduct an impartial inquiry since the state police reports to chief minister Pramod Sawant.

“This cash-for-jobs scam case should face a judicial inquiry as the police may come under pressure. There is an absolute failure of the administration, and links to BJP have been established. An impartial investigation will help expose the gang of agents involved. We cannot trust this BJP govt,” said Alemao.
Patkar said a special investigation team should be formed to hold the inquiry, with a judge from the high court of Bombay at Goa appointed to oversee the investigation.

Congress has appealed that more victims file complaints against those who took money in lieu of govt jobs.
Meanwhile, the party’s media cell chairman, Amarnath Panjikar, said BJP is also linked to those arrested in connection with fake educational certificates.
“Every department in BJP govt is affected with the virus of chicanery,” said Panjikar.
