BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The widow of a crossing guard who was shot to death on the subway in January claims MTA workers leaked photos of her husband in a pool of blood – and she’s now suing for $28 million.
Richard Henderson, 45, was fatally shot on a subway train in Brooklyn when he tried to stop a fight on Jan. 14, according to authorities.
Jakeba Dockery, Henderson’s wife, claims MTA workers shared graphic pictures of the crime scene, including some that showed Henderson lying in a pool of blood. Dockery said she found out when someone sent the photos to her.
“I was very devastated when I got that photo of my husband,” Dockery said. “It’s just indescribable how I felt when that picture came through my phone.”
In her lawsuit, Dockery cited the case brought by Kobe Bryant’s widow after photos of the crash scene that took his life were leaked.
The MTA said it is investigating Dockery’s claims.
No arrests have been made in connection with Henderson's death, police said. The NYPD is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
Henderson was a beloved crossing guard at Avenues World School in Chelsea, where he worked for 10 years, his family said.
A GoFundMe set up to support his family has raised over $370,000.
