Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered their second consecutive win of
IPL 2024
in as many matches with a comprehensive 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. And while Shivam Dube stole the show with his breezy half-century,
Deepak Chahar
's light-hearted comment on CSK captaincy after the match didn't go unnoticed.
MS Dhoni had handed over the CSK captaincy to
Ruturaj Gaikwad
before the start of the season, but the former India skipper remains the man who the players look up to for guidance, besides skipper Gaikwad.
So it was a valid question when batting legend Sunil Gavaskar asked Chahar after the match who he looks at for instructions on the field - Dhoni or Gaikwad.
Chahar jokingly replied: "I got to look at Mahi (MSD) bhai and at Ruturaj - both of them these days for field placements and all. So there is a bit of a confusion where to look now, but Ruturaj is doing well and he is leading the way."
Shivam Dube (51), Gaikwad (46) and New Zealander Rachin Ravindra (46) made key contributions as CSK posted 206/6 on the board and then restricted Gujarat to 143/8 to register a big win.
Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande took two wickets each for Chennai.
