NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Police have identified the person of interest in the shooting death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown last week as Luigi Mangione.
Mangione, 26, was taken into custody in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Monday, police said. He was arrested by the Altoona Police Department on unrelated firearms charges after a McDonald’s employee recognized him, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.
Mangione had writings critical of the health insurance industry with him, Tisch said.
