NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City public school students may not get snow days anymore, but they still get a midwinter break.
This year’s midwinter break takes place next week, from Feb. 19 through Feb. 23. All schools will be closed, according to the Department of Education calendar.
Jody Mercier, the New York City editor for Mommy Poppins, joined PIX11 Morning News to chat about things to do with the kids while they’re off from school next week. Watch the video player for more on that story.
Students also have several days off in March, April, May, and June before the school year ends on June 26.
Snow days are not in the cards for New York City students this year. The Department of Education said it would pivot to remote learning during inclement weather.
The nation's largest school district deployed this strategy during a snowstorm on Tuesday, and quickly experienced widespread technical issues.
