NEW YORK (PIX11) – This year could bring major change to New York City’s leadership.

New Yorkers will cast their votes for mayor, comptroller, public advocate, all borough presidents, two district attorneys, and all 51 seats of the City Council.

Incumbent Mayor Eric Adams is among those running for office, along with eight other Democratic candidates. Many voters and political pundits are also waiting to see if former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will also jump into the race.

On Monday, officials at the Justice Department directed prosecutors to drop the case against Adams. The mayor thanked the DOJ during a public address on Tuesday.

“As you may have heard, the Department of Justice has directed that the case against me be dismissed, finally ending a months-long saga that put me, my family, this city through an unnecessary ordeal,” Adams said. “I thank the Justice Department for its honesty. Now, we can put this cruel episode behind us.”

The case can be reviewed again after the 2025 mayoral election, according to the DOJ memo.
