NEW YORK (PIX11) – People in New York City will have the opportunity to see Manhattanhenge – when the sun and street grid align perfectly in Manhattan – this week.
But if you're not local to the Big Apple, you may miss the rare celestial event. So when is the next Manhattanhenge?
Lucky for you, the next Manhattanhenge will be happening on a weekend. You'll be able to witness the full sun on the grid on Friday, July 12 at 8:20 p.m. and a half sun on the grid on Saturday, July 13 at 8:21 p.m., according to the American Museum of Natural History.
Manhattanhenge can best be viewed from 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, or 57th streets, the Tudor City overpass, or Hunter's Point South Park in Queens, according to astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
