is working on a
secret code
feature to protect the
locked chats
for
desktop users
. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the instant messaging app is developing a new
privacy feature
which will further enhance the user experience.
As per the report, WhatsApp will promptly prompt users to enter a secret code to access the list of locked chats, a feature previously set up on their mobile devices.
We foresaw this necessity during the development of locked chats on WhatsApp, recognising its importance in safeguarding user privacy and ensuring the security of sensitive conversations through a PIN.
“One significant advantage of implementing a secret code feature to protect the list of locked chats on WhatsApp Web is the reinforcement of privacy and security for users. By requiring a secret code to access the list of locked chats, WhatsApp will provide an additional layer of defense against unauthorised access to sensitive conversations. In addition, this feature ensures that even users who may share their desktop devices or work in shared environments can maintain the confidentiality of their conversations,” mentions the report.
How Google may help solve 'WhatsApp problem' in India
As reported by the Economic Times, the American tech giant is set to launch a new mobile phone messaging system in India, posing a potential challenge to WhatsApp's dominance in enterprise customer communication.
This initiative is expected to have a notable effect on the overall messaging landscape in the country, with Vodafone Idea (Vi) leading the way by teaming up with Google to provide Rich Communication Service (RCS) messaging to Indian businesses. Industry experts anticipate that Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel will likely join in soon.
