The Special Cell of Delhi Police, which deals with anti-terror operations, is investigating Parliament security breach incident which happened on Wednesday. Delhi Police has so far arrested five accused involved while the sixth still remains on the run.
The six accused had been in contact for four years and meticulously planned the breach a few days prior to the incident, it was revealed during questioning. They coordinated through social media and conducted reconnaissance of the Parliament building in the days preceding the incursion, sources said.
During questioning, the accused told police that the breach was aimed at drawing the government's attention to various issues.
Four accused told police that they were upset with issues like unemployment, farmers' troubles and Manipur violence. They said that they used the colour smoke to draw attention so that lawmakers have discussions on these issues.
They even said that they wanted to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and talk to him over the issues.
However, police are not entirely convinced and will scrutinise the accused's mobile phones to ascertain their motive. All their mobile phones are currently with Lalit, who is still on the run. Police suspect that Lalit may have absconded with the mobile phones to destroy evidence.
On Wednesday, December 13, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D leaped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow gas from canisters and shouting slogans before being subdued by MPs.
