NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Wendy Williams waved from her window at protesters gathered down below demanding the end to the star's legal guardianship.
Fans planned protests in Los Angeles and New York City on Tuesday morning. In the city, protesters met outside the Coterie assisted living facility in Hudson Yards, where Williams is reportedly staying.
"We want Wendy free today!" protesters chanted in Hudson Yards.
The star has been in a legal guardianship since 2022, which controls her finances and health, People reported. She was diagnosed with dementia last year.
A slew of Change.org petitions call for Williams’ release from guardianship, including one with over 26,000 signatures. A GoFundMe fundraiser has raised nearly $50,000 for Williams’ legal efforts.
"I love Wendy, and she looks amazing. Look at how wonderful she looks behind that glass window," one protester told PIX11 News. "She looks bright, smart."
