NEW DELHI: Team USA, despite being a relatively young and inexperienced side in the international cricket arena, faced a formidable challenge as they took on the formidable Indian side at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, USA head coach
Stuart Law
made a candid admission, saying that his team is still in its fledgling stages and has a lot to learn.

"I think that we're only a fledgling team. There's plenty to learn. There's not just the cricket aspect of the game of cricket, but there's also the other intricacies that need to be embedded. It's a rule that's only just come in. A lot of our players wouldn't have heard about it before we played in the Bangladesh series or the Canada series earlier this year. So, look, it's something that we need to address, we'll sit down and talk about, but we can improve it," said Stuart, as quoted by ANI.
Law's reference to the specific rule that his players were unfamiliar with until recently highlights the steep learning curve that the USA team is navigating.
As a developing cricketing nation, it is understandable that certain rules and regulations may not have been widely known or practiced within their domestic setup.
In the match, the USA posted a respectable total of 110/8, thanks to contributions from Nitish Kumar and Steven Taylor. Although this score was modest against India's formidable batting lineup, it offered the USA bowlers a chance to test their skills against top-tier opposition.

missed the game due to a knock. Regarding Monank Patel's injury, Law was quick to provide an update on the wicketkeeper-batter's shoulder niggle.
"He (Monank) has got a niggle in his shoulder so we're monitoring that daily. The medical staff will sit with him either tonight or tomorrow and make an assessment. But he's improving which is good, he just wasn't good enough to get out there to play today at full capacity. So, it's on the improve, which is great news for Monank," he added.
