RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (PIX11) -- Be careful what you wish for.
So many people have been lamenting the fact that cold and snowy winters seem to have skipped the tri-state area for the last two years. But now it appears to be here with a vengeance with two snowfalls in one week and now bone-chilling cold.
“We are going to bundle up and not leave very often,” Lauren Schachtel and her daughter, Rebecca, told PIX11 News. As the arctic cold blast approaches, the restaurant business is booming on Chestnut Street.
At Roots of Ridgewood, it was wall-to-wall diners as folks were getting ready to spend a weekend indoors with the real feel of temperatures plummeting into the single digits.
“I just go out,” Lisa D’Amato, a Roots diner told PIX11 News. “I put the fireplace in when I am back home, it’s fine,” she added.
“We’re getting a lot of takeout orders,” Akshay Jhanjee, the owner of Delhi Accent, told PIX11 News.
At the nearby Delhi Accent, customers were topping off their spicy Indian food with ice cream.
“It seemed like a good idea at the time, "Jon Anderson, a Delhi Accent customer, told PIX11 News.
A Pomeranian husky mix, Emmy, loves the bone-chilling temperature maybe because she has the best natural thick coat possible.
“She has never shivered a day in her life,” Chris Cavallo, the owner said.
Customers waiting outside for a table at Tori Ramen Chicken were dreaming of a weekend of cuddling.
“We’re coming in for warm ramen noodles, then we will cozy up and stay inside,” Cheryl Chang, a Westwood resident stated. Her husband, Andrew Chang, seemed to like the idea.
