Ravichandran Ashwin
was widely lauded for playing his
100th Test
for India, reaching the milestone in the fifth Test against
England
at
Dharamshala
.
The veteran off-spinner marked the occasion by taking 4 wickets as England were bowled out for 218 on the first day after opting to bat.
After the day's play the Indian cricket board (
BCCI
) shared a video on X where
Ashwin
talks about
chess
champion
Viswanathan Anand
and how he learnt the game of chess.
Anand, on his part, revealed that he had interacted with Ashwin during the pandemic as the latter had called him to talk on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin also revealed how talking to
Anand
helped him improve the metal aspect of his game through chess.
Anand goes on to compliment Ashwin on playing his 100th Test saying, "You're the chess player amongst the cricketers".
Anand wished Ashwin all the best hoping he enjoys the great occasion (of the 100th Test).
