As the match was abandoned without toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad went through to the IPL playoffs while it was curtains already for the 2022 champions Gujarat Titans.

Now a video that is going viral shows Gujarat Titans captain

Gill

meeting the family of

Abhishek Sharma

, who has been in fine form for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The video shows Gill, in true Indian tradition, bending down to touch the feet of Abhishek's mother, who also shows her love and affection for Gill by patting his back and giving her blessings. Gill also shakes hands with Abhishek's sister in the heart-warming video.

They maybe opponents in the IPL but Gill and

Abhishek

go back a long way since playing for Punjab in domestic cricket. And both played together in India's successful campaign in the 2018 edition of the

U19 World Cup

.
Talking about Gill in an interaction with TOI last year, Abhishek had said that instead of any rivalry with the India opener, he has always had a great camaraderie with Gill.
"We have played together since under-12, so we have that bond till now. He's been doing really well for India now, he always motivates me to do well. The way he dominates, he wants me to play like that and dominate every match, every season as well. I learn a lot from him."
"Now that he is busy on tours and with shoots and all, we talk once in a while these days. But whenever we talk, we talk properly, and we talk a lot about cricket," said Abhishek during the interaction.
Gill scored 426 runs in 12 matches in IPL 2024, while Abhishek has scored 401 runs in 12 matches.
And Abhishek would be looking to increase his tally in the playoffs and help Sunrisers Hyderabad clinch their second IPL title.
