NEW DELHI: With five victories and three defeats from eight games,
Shreyas
Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders are at the second spot in the points table.
Ahead of the two-time champions' match against Delhi Capitals at the
Eden Gardens
in Kolkata the host broadcaster shared a video of Iyer talking about the factors that motivate him to keep going on the field.
Iyer says, "I have said many times earlier that when you are at the other side of the line, there are butterflies in your stomach.
You always think about the crowd, the situation as to what will happen."
"And the moment you step in, I go blank, meaning you could see the crowd cheer, you could hear them, but at the same time you are there in your zone. After going in that zone, nothing else matters to be honest but when you hit a six or a four and the crowd starts making noise and if the batsman is going in a great flow, to see the crowd cheer, 'we want six, we want four', that gives you so much energy inside, that I like very much. And also when the crowd chats your name," Iyer adds.
KKR had won the previous match against DC at
Visakhapatnam
earlier this month.
Kolkata and Delhi have met 32 times in the IPL so far with KKR winning 16 times and DC winning 15. One game ended with no result.
Both KKR and DC are in no position to let their guards down at the moment.
