NEW DELHI:
Sanju Samson
has led Rajasthan Royals with aplomb in IPL 2024. Under Samson's captaincy, the
Royals
are at the second spot in the points table. The captain himself is in fine form scoring 471 runs in 11 matches to be at the fifth spot in the list of most run scorers.

Samson is 14 runs away from surpassing his highest tally in an IPL season (484 runs in IPL 2021).
His average (67.29) and strike-rate (163.54) this year already the best for him in a single edition.
The Royals face defending champions Chennai Super Kings at
Chepauk
in a day game on Sunday and if the Samson-led side wins, they will be through to the playoffs.
Ahead of the match, the tournament's official broadcaster shared a video on X in which
Samson
reflects on the intense competitiveness of the IPL and emphasises the importance of staying present in the moment.
Samson says in the video, "I don't think like that, that we have to win this time or not win this time. I am not at all a person who is much worried about the results. You know if you look at the ten teams, each and every team can win this IPL. So, I would like to respect all the teams, I would like to respect ourselves and then just go and play the best cricket we can and then we'll see."
"Last time we won 5 out of 6 matches but even then we didn't qualify. So that keeps on happening in the IPL. So it's very important to be humble, very important to be in the moment and take care of what you have in your hands," Samson adds.
The Royals have won six of the last seven clashes against CSK, including each of the last four.
Ravichandran Ashwin
was the player of the match when the visitors edged home by three runs at the Chepauk last year.
