Amid tax raids, Jharkhand MP says, 'Cash has nothing to do with Congress'
Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu, whose premises in Odisha and Jharkhand were raided by the Income Tax department leading to a recovery of over Rs 351 crore, said that the cash recovered is related to his family's liquor firms, and has nothing to do with the Congress or any other party. "The cash that has been recovered is related to my liquor firms. It is the proceedings from the sale of liquor. This money has nothing to do with Congress or any other political party as is being said," the Jharkhand MP told news agency ANI on Friday. He also said that he is "not in the business line", and that his family members would answer questions about the cash recovery. Sahu also said that all the cash recovered doesn't belong to him, but also to his family and other related firms. "The money is not all mine, it belongs to my family and other related firms. The IT has raided now. I will give an account for everything," the Congress leader said. Refuting allegations made by the BJP that the cash recovered was black money, Sahu reiterated that the source of his money was from the business firms run by his family. He also urged people to let the Income Tax department decide if the seized cash is 'Kaala Dhan' or 'Safed Dhan'.
Special team probes into death of Sushant Singh Rajput's ex-manager Disha Salian
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Mumbai Police started a probe into the alleged suicide of Disha Salian, former manager of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. On Friday, the team went to an apartment in Malad from where Salian allegedly fell to her death. Disha was found dead on June 8, 2020, days before Sushant (34) was found hanging in his flat in suburban Bandra in Mumbai. Additional Commissioner of Police (North) Rajiv Jain is heading the SIT. Senior inspector of Malvani police station Chimaji Adhav and his team are conducting the probe, which is being supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajaykumar Bansal, an official told PTI news agency. People related to the case were interrogated and Disha Salian's parents will also be questioned by the SIT.
Unemployment, price rise reasons behind Parliament security breach: Rahul Gandhi
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi blamed unemployment due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies for Parliament security breach. "The citizens of the country are not getting employment because of (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi's policies. Unemployment is the reason why the security breach happened," he told reporters on Saturday. Rahul Gandhi further said that the biggest problem the Indian population is facing currently is unemployment. "The security breach has indeed happened. But the point is, why did it happen? The main issue is unemployment. Owing to Modi ji's policies, the people of India are not getting employment," the Wayanad MP said. Rahul Gandhi said that unemployment and also inflation due to the Prime Minister's policies are the reasons behind the Parliament security breach.
Lok Sabha security breach: Speaker writes to MPs, says 'unfortunate that...'
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday wrote to all MPs over the security lapse in Parliament on December 13. Om Birla said it was unfortunate that some members of Parliament were "linking the decision of the House to suspend some members" to the Parliament security breach incident. "The suspension of the members is purely to uphold the sanctity of the House," Om Birla said. As many as 13 opposition MPs, including nine from the Congress, were suspended from Lok Sabha on Thursday for the remainder of the session for disrupting proceedings as Parliament witnessed chaotic scenes over Wednesday's security breach incident. "At the time of the inauguration of the new building of our Parliament, we had resolved that we will refrain from bringing placards inside the House; we will not create ruckus in the well of the House," Birla said.
