England speedster Mark Wood shattered records with his express pace during Day 2 of the 2nd Test match between England and West Indies at Trent Bridge on July 19, Friday. Wood surprised West Indies opener Mikyle Louis with a bouncer. However, this was not a regular bouncer as Wood clocked 97.1 mph while bowling a short-pitched delivery to the batter. The 34-year-old cranked up the pace and lived up to his reputation of delivering thunderbolts. The opener arched his back just in time and avoided getting hit as England's wicketkeeper Jamie Smith collected the ball.
The speedster had already delivered the fastest over in a home Test in England. In his very first over for England, Wood took no time as he bowled a 151.1 kmph delivery first up to Louis. He was then beaten by a pacy and moving delivery of 154.65 kmph by the fast bowler. The pacer backed up his initial deliveries with 152.88 kmph and 148.06 kmph thunderbolts before he topped off the charts with the fifth delivery.
