NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals swashbuckling opener
Jos Buttler
had scores of 11, 11 and 13 in the IPL 2024 matches before his match-winning unbeaten hundred against
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
The Royals were disappointed by Buttler's form because he is known to be a clean striker of the ball and renowned for winning matches single-handedly with the bat.
But the Royals kept their faith in the hard-hitting wicket-keeper batsman and before the match against RCB, even shared a video, 'inspired' by a popular Hindi film 'Nayak' that starred
Anil Kapoor
in the lead role.
The original scene has the character played by
Paresh Rawal
trying to encourage the character played Anil Kapoor to take over as the Chief Minister of the state.
In the video shared by the Royals, a turbaned man tries his best to 'charge up'
Buttler
to come up with some histrionics with the bat, so that he again earns the Orange Cap and hits four centuries in the season.
The video ends with Buttler getting charged up and yells "Halla Bol" alongwith the fans. "Halla Bol" is the theme song of the Royals.
And sure enough in the match, Buttler overshadowed none other than
Virat Kohli
who hit his 8th IPL 100 off 67 balls and remained unbeaten on 113.
Rajasthan secured their fourth consecutive win of the season riding on Buttler's scintillating century, achieved in his 100th game as the opener sealed the deal in style.
With one run needed, Buttler smashed a last-over six to take the Royals to a six-wicket victory against RCB.
