NEW DELHI: The

Decision Review System

(DRS) has always been a debatable decision ever since it has been introduced in international cricket. There have been countless instances of controversies and discussions in the past.
Another such instance came to light in the

2nd T20I

between

Bangladesh

and

Sri Lanka

at Sylhet on Wednesday.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain led from the front, scoring an undefeated 53 to secure a decisive eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, leveling the three-match Twenty20 series at 1-1.

With fine contributions from Liton Das (36) and Towhid Hridoy (32 not out), Bangladesh were reached 170/2 in 18.1 overs after their bowlers had restricted Sri Lanka to 165/5, choosing to bowl first.

Liton and

Soumya Sarkar

(26) set up the win with a 68-run opening stand before Matheesha Pathirana dismissed both to give Sri Lanka a glimmer of hope.
It was during this opening stand that the DRS row erupted.
Bangladesh were 28/0 after 3 overs

Binura Fernando

came in the attack and immediately struck with the first ball, or so he thought.
Fernando bowled a skiddy back of a length ball that angled in from around off, Soumya Sarkar looked to pull it across and seemed to have got a bit of bat on it as the ball carried through to

Kusal Mendis

.
Sarkar was given out caught behind but he took the review straightaway. UltraEdge showed a spike but the third umpire reckoned that there was daylight between bat and ball. The third umpire reckoned that the spike appeared after the ball had passed the bat. There was a clear noise on stump mic though. The Sri Lankan players were not pleased one bit and are talking to both the umpires.
The camera panned towards Sri Lankan head coach Chris Silverwood and he was also not amused! Mendis,

Angelo Mathews

, and Sri Lanka captain

Charith Asalanka

all had an animated chat with the umpires.
The official broadcaster shared a video of the incident:

The third T20I of the series is on Saturday at the same venue.
