NEW DELHI: Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah removed
Travis Head
for a duck in the third session of the first day of the
Boxing Day Test
between India and Australia at the MCG on Thursday.
India captain Rohit Sharma brought Bumrah back into the attack at the dismissal of Marnus Labuschagne against Washington Sundar.
It was an important phase of play as Head had been on song, being the leading run scorer in this series with 409 runs from 3 Tests with two hundreds.
Head's audacious strokeplay against Bumrah has been one of the highlights of this series so this was the prized wicket for the Indians.
And as he has done on many occasions, Bumrah delivered when it mattered the most with a peach of a ball before Head could even trouble the scorers.
The Indians came up with a good ploy to set an attacking field and that planted doubts in Head's mind and an error in judgment cost Head his wicket.
Bumrah bowled a back of a length delivery just outside off from round the wicket, Head lifted his bat thinking that it won't seam in or rather will nip away.
But, the red cherry just seamed in just a touch and hit the top of off-stump, leaving the Indians celebrating and Head bearing a shock and disappointed look.
Cricket Australia shared a video of the dismissal with the caption: "BUMRAH SEED TO GET HEAD FOR A DUCK!"
This is the third time that Bumrah has dismissed Head in this series.
