Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Shoaib Malik took social media into an overdrive on Saturday, announcing his marriage to actress Sana Javed. Taking to Instagram, the couple shared a couple of pictures to announce their marriage. "Alhamdullilah. And We created you in pairs," the caption of the post read. Fans congratulated the couple as they look to embark on a new journey as husband and wife. After the confirmation of the latest development, Malik's old post for wife Sana has gone viral on social media.
The post, which was dated last year in March, was on the occasion of Sana's birthday. Malik had shared a picture with Sana, and wrote: "Happy Birthday Buddy".
The post had sparked dating rumors between the two amid divorce rumours between Malik and India tennis legend Sania Mirza.
Speaking to news PTI after Malik announced his marriage, Sania Mirza's father, Imran, confirmed that her daughter has divorced Malik.
"It was a 'khula'," Imran told PTI. Notably, 'khula' refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.
There have been strong rumours since 2022 about differences between Shoaib and Sania leading to a split, and they have rarely been seen together in the last couple of years.
Just a few days back Malik also unfollowed the Indian star on Instagram.
Shoaib and Sania had got married in Hyderabad in the Indian player's hometown Hyderabad in April 2010 and they use to live in Dubai.
Their five-year-old son Izaan, who was born in 2018, lives with Sania.
