NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Brooklyn Walgreens is set to close on Wednesday as the pharmaceutical giant shuts down 1,200 stores over the next three years in an effort to rebuild its business.
The Walgreens, located at 5008 5th Ave., is one of 500 stores shuttering within the current fiscal year.
“This location will permanently close on May 21. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause,” a notice on the Walgreens website reads.
Customers who get their prescriptions filled at that Walgreens can change what store they get their medication at online by clicking here. If you're enrolled in auto refill, you can also select a new location for your prescription.
"It is never an easy decision to close a store, and we know how important they are to the communities we serve and therefore do everything possible to improve their performance," Walgreens said in a statement.
