will organize a two-day
Vishwa Konkani Samaroh
2024 and Vishwa
Konkani
Awards from Saturday.
Nandagopal Shenoy, president, World Konkani and Cultural Foundation, Mangaluru, told reporters that a seminar on the ‘Konkani Rangabhumi Indu Mundu’ topic will be inaugurated by John M Permannur on Feb 10, followed by another seminar by Gaurish Prabhu.
“The other talks on the topic ‘The condition of Konkani outside Goa’ will be done by Dr Kasturi Mohan Pai. Dr Kiran Budkule and Gokuldas Prabhu will talk on other topics in the afternoon on the same day,” he said.
On the next day, the Vishwa Konkani Awards-2023 will be held. Mangalore University vice-chancellor (in-charge) Jayaraj Amin will present the awards. Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Sahitya Puraskar will be conferred on Konkani writer from Goa, Dr Prakash Pariyenkara. Konkani writer RS Bhaskar from Kerala will be presented with Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Kavita Kruti Puraskar.
Vimala V Pai Vishwa Konkani Jeevan Siddhi Samman will be conferred to Konkani artist Ramanand Raikar, from Goa. Basti Vaman Shenoy Vishwa Konkani Seva Puraskar will be conferred on Shakuntala A Bhandarkar and Snehalaya Charitable Trust’ founder Joseph Crasta while Dr P Dayananda Pai Vishwa Konkani Ranga Shreshta Puraskar will be conferred on Srinivas Rao (Kasargod Chinna) and Dr P Dayananda Pai Vishwa Konkani Anuvad Puraskar will be presented to writer Ramesha Lad.
In the evening, there will be the staging of Konkani plays. Konkani literature enthusiasts from Karnataka, Mumbai, Goa, and Kerala will participate in the two-day event, said the organizers.
