NEW DELHI: England pace bowling legend Stuart Broad expressed his anticipation for the upcoming battle between

Virat Kohli

and young pacer

Mayank Yadav

during the

IPL 2024

clash between

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

(RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), scheduled for Tuesday.
The emergence of Mayank Yadav as a sensation in the IPL caught Broad's attention, particularly after his record-breaking display against Punjab Kings.

Clocking the fastest delivery of the tournament at 155.8 KMPH, Yadav's exceptional pace and talent helped Lucknow secure their first win, earning him the Player-of-the-Match Award with figures of 3 for 27 in four overs.

In contrast, Virat Kohli's consistent performance for RCB has been noteworthy, with two back-to-back fifties in three matches and being the joint-highest run-getter with 181 runs at an average of 90.50.

"I’m really excited about the battle between Virat Kohli versus Mayank Yadav," Broad remarked on Star Sports' Cricket live show. "One of the best IPL debuts you’ll ever see, 156 kmph and three wickets, challenging world-class batters, beating them with pace, incredible control of the line going over middle and leg stump."
Anticipating the challenge for Mayank Yadav at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Broad emphasized the learning opportunity for the young bowler in such high-pressure environments.

As RCB prepare to face LSG, Broad suggested changes to their bowling lineup, highlighting the need for experienced options like Lockie Ferguson and Reece Topley to bolster the team's performance.

"RCB have lost two games while defending totals and won one while chasing, sitting ninth in the table," Broad observed. "LSG, on the other hand, are sixth with one win and a loss in two games."
