NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The FDNY posted a warning on its social media with a shocking video of what it said is an illegal lithium-ion battery catching on fire at King Electronic Hub in Queens.

The video shows just how quickly a fire from these batteries can become out of control. According to the FDNY, it only took two and a half minutes for the battery to completely engulf the store.

The video from a Jan. 7 fire shows a batter being allegedly charged on the ground and sparking like a firework. Smoke quickly filled the shop blocking certain cameras in the store before a final shot shows what appears to be the moment the battery exploded.

The FDNY accompanied the post on social media with the following:

"When we tell you that unregulated, illegal lithium-ion batteries are a hazard, WE MEAN IT. 🚲If possible, store it outside. 🔌 Never charge devices or lithium-ion batteries overnight or unattended. 🚪Never leave devices or lithium-ion batteries by exits. https://on.nyc.gov/2HnpaGf"
