EAST BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A possible drive-by shooting has left a man dead and another man injured in the Bronx late Sunday, according to the NYPD.
It happened along Ely Avenue in East Bronx around 10:50 p.m.
Joseph Johnson, 29, was found with a gunshot wound to his head, and James Billingsley, 40, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg, according to authorities. Both were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.
Johnson was pronounced dead at 11:21 p.m.
Police say two groups of men were engaged in a verbal dispute when four shots rang out. Johnson was involved, however, Billingsley was an unintended target who was visiting his niece, according to the NYPD.
Two 9mm shell casings were recovered, police said.
Several suspects fled the scene in a gray Honda Accord, according to authorities. No arrests have been made as of Tuesday.
