Use Google Maps to find public bathrooms near you in NYC

NEW YORK (PIX11) – You can now find nearby public bathrooms in New York City using a new resource in Google Maps.

The city created a new Google Maps layer that people can activate on their phones that maps out the locations of public bathrooms. The map includes restrooms within public parks, libraries, the transit system and public spaces in New York City.

Additionally, Mayor Eric Adams on Monday announced that the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation will be building 46 new restrooms over the next five years.

The Department of Parks and Recreation has also opened seven new public restrooms in the past five months. They are located at Bronx Point/Mill Pond Park and Starlight Park in the Bronx, Wyckoff House Park in Brooklyn, Frederick Johnson Playground and Highbridge Park Adventure Playground in Manhattan, Maspeth Park in Queens, and Lopez Playground in Staten Island.

There are nearly 1,000 public restrooms in New York City, according to city officials.
