Legendary former fast bowler Wasim Akram turned weatherman during USA vs Ireland group-stage match in Florida. The group stage fixture was marred by rain on Friday, 14 June. There were already huge concerns over the weather in the Florida leg and they turned out to be true as it rained throughout the day before USA vs Ireland game.
Wasim Akram had major interest in the match, as Pakistan would be knocked out if USA tied Ireland in their final Group A fixture. Wasim gave hour by hour update of the ground conditions and appraised the fans about the wet outfield at Fort Lauderdale.

Wasim revealed that the ground staff were working hard to dry up the outfield, but there were several patches in the ground that were dangerous in condition.
Pakistan fans were given a ray of hope, quite literally as the sun came out later in the day. However, the toss was delayed by an hour from the scheduled start of the game (8 PM IST). If the match is cancelled, USA will qualify for the Super 8 stages alongside India. The result will end Pakistan's horror campaign in the tournament, where they lost to USA and India in their first two matches. This will be Pakistan's second ICC tournament in a row where they will be knocked out of the group stages. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, Pakistan had a terrible time in India and finished in the 5th spot in the group table, winning 4 out of their 9 matches.
