Mahindra
is gearing up for a substantial push to its portfolio in 2024. The strategy involves updates for existing models and the introduction of two brand-new
electric SUVs
, with an aim to elevate its presence in the growing segment currently dominated by Tata Motors.
XUV300 Facelift
The popular XUV300 compact SUV is set to receive a facelift next year, featuring a fresh front and rear-end overhaul.
It will get drop-down DRLs and Nexon-like connected LED light bars. Mahindra is revamping the interior to infuse a modern aesthetic, introducing additional features such as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen.
Under the hood, the XUV300 facelift will retain its existing engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel mill.
XUV300 EV
The manufacturer is readying another Nexon EV competitor for the Nexon EV after its prior shot, the XUV400, wasn’t able to take up the fight as the company would have expected. This time, Mahindra is coming up with an affordable option, the XUV300, which will be slated below its elder sibling.
Mahindra is likely to draw inspiration from the upcoming XUV300 facelift for design elements. It will be less than four metres in length. The XUV300 EV is equipped with a 35 kWh battery, slightly smaller than the 40 kWh battery in the top-spec XUV400. However, specific details about the range and electric motor specifications are not available at this moment.

Thar Goes Big (and Practical):
Mahindra is finally set to expand the Thar lineup with the much-anticipated 5-door version of the off-roader. The model has already been spied testing on the Indian roads multiple times. The extended wheelbase of the new variant is expected to contribute to additional space in the second row and the boot.
Speaking of the interior upgrades, we can expect Mahindra to include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen along with the introduction of a sunroof. Under the hood, the 5-door variant will likely retain the same engine options as its 3-door counterpart - a 132 hp, 300 Nm, 2.2-litre diesel engine as well as a 2.0-litre petrol engine with power figures of 152 hp and up to 320 Nm. Expect both engines to be available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.
XUV.e8
Mahindra showcased the concept version of the upcoming
XUV.e8 electric SUV
last year and since then, the EV has been spied testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It will mark the entry of the OEM’s next-generation born electric vehicle lineup.
The design of the test mules closely resemble the concept version, featuring a broad DRL across the hood with lower-placed headlamps. The side profile of the XUV.e8 almost mirrors that of the XUV700. We can also expect the model to boast connected tail lamps.
Expected to be equipped with an 80kWh battery, the XUV.e8 will likely come with two power outputs - 230 hp and 350 hp. Additionally, there's the possibility of a twin-motor setup, providing an all-wheel-drive capability, which is also likely to be seen in the Thar.e.
